Il Giardino di Barbano, Florence, Italy. August 2014.
Back in August when several places were closed or too far to walk, we caved and tried this pizzeria right beside our hotel (this was before I moved to my student apartment)
We didn’t get to try much–mostly, the usuals. Some lasagna, pizza, and chicken. But the real interesting food item they have is called a “focaccia” which, as it turns out, is not just the stick of bread that comes on the side of a pasta dish, but instead is a pizza that’s inside a round piece of focaccia bread.
Maybe I was just a noob but it was the first time I had ever encountered focaccia not being the sidekick stick of bread. We tried the speck and brie focaccia, which was really good. It’s kind of like an Italian quesadilla. Yum.
