Lisbon, Portugal. April 2014.
I love Lisbon’s unique mix of architectural styles. I can’t quite put a finger on it–because there are clear influences of Moorish and Western European elements in the mix–but there’s something quirky and charming about it too. It’s like the Zooey Deschanel of European capital cities.
I love unexpected graphic elements like those black & white mod-slash-Escher-esque squiggly floors
And I also love how piles of colorful houses rise up in the background around the more classic European square
The gothically cool Santa Justa elevator
And the gorgeous and iconic Belém Tower
I love how the tower almost has an illustrated feel to it
The Padrão dos Descobrimentos maritime monument
The Jerónimos Monastery, a trove of gorgeous architecture
How cool are those spidery ceiling arches
And below, one of many awesomely designed subway stations, like a gallery of modern art of sorts
Two days in this lovely city were definitely not enough :((
Gorgeous photographs of Lisbon!
