Restaurante Can Culleretes – Barcelona, Spain. April 2014.

The oldest restaurant in Barcelona & Catalonia, and the second oldest in Spain, we were expecting nothing short of the homiest, most authentic Catalan dishes ever.

Cute interiors which are rustic and good for talking. They’ve maintained it quite well so I didn’t feel like anything was gross or dilapidated.

A pitcher of sangria, which tastes like diluted wine with slices of fruit thrown in it.

Cannelloni with spinach and cod

Seafood house rice (like a wetter paella)

Steak shaped like a pig mid-jump

IMG_2447

Spanish style lechon which is oddly not as fatty as Filipino style lechon. A pig on a European diet. Nothing amazing, though.

What this place has going for it is its rusticity, but the food is by no means the greatest. A harmless enough food spot but not one I’d seek out if I had limited time in Barcelona.
